Robert Armstrong

June 27, 1926 — April 26, 2010

ROBERT JOSEPH ARMSTRONG Robert Joseph Armstrong, 83, of Sebring, FL, passed away April 26, 2010, in Sebring. He was born June 27, 1926 to Alfred and Alice Armstrong in Oneida, New York and lived in Utica, NY until transferring to Dayton, Ohio (Wright-Patterson AFB); then to the Federal Supply Center in Battle Creek, MI, where he retired. After retirement, he and his wife spent winters in Florida, returning to the camp they loved at Bradley Brook in Upstate New York for summers. Bob loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He was a proud patriot, having served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and the Korean conflict. He demonstrated his pride with lifetime memberships in the American Legion, AM Veterans and VFW. In addition, he generously supported and was affiliated with the Elks, Moose, Shriners, Masons and the Irish American Club. Bob married his childhood sweetheart, Phoebe Theresa Roach and shared 55 years with her until her death in 2001. His son, Robert Edward Armstrong, also preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter Carol and son-in-law John Hatlelid of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Aaron Armstrong, Amy Robrahn, Rene Hatlelid, John Hatlelid and Hollie Armstrong. He also leaves four step-brothers and a sister, along with a host of friends and extended family. A man with a big heart and beautiful Irish smile has left us with a heavy heart, but beautiful memories help compensate for his passing. Visitation with family and friends to pay respect will be held from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 3, 2010, at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, 4001 Sebring Parkway, Sebring, Florida 33870. Interment with military honors will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Arrangements were entrusted to: Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home 4001 Sebring Parkway Sebring, Florida 33870
