Rita Mary St. Louis, born on January 17, 1926, in Old Town, ME, to the late Onesime and Lea Thibodeau, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2024, in Sebring, FL.
Rita was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her loving children: Victoria A. Reger of Monroe, GA, Sandra J. St. Louis of Buffalo, NY, Cynthia M. Klein (Jeffrey) of Frostproof, FL, and James L. St. Louis (Betty Small) of Orange City, FL. She was a cherished grandmother to four grandchildren and a beloved great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren. Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Louis St. Louis.
Rita was married in 1948 and raised her family in Carmel, Maine, in the home her husband built. She moved to Orange City, FL in 2012 and then to Sebring, FL in 2015. Known for her love of bingo, Rita enjoyed the camaraderie and excitement of the game. She was also an avid card player, finding joy in the challenge and social interaction it provided.
Rita loved planting flowers, especially pansies, along the border of her house, bringing vibrant colors to her surroundings. Her talents also extended to the kitchen, where she took great pride in canning, freezing, and pickling vegetables from the family garden, ensuring her family always had a taste of her homegrown goodness. Her homemade bread, cookies, pies, and cakes were also thoroughly appreciated and enjoyed by her family as well as visitors who dropped by
Rita's family was the center of her world. She was a loving and caring mother who always put her children's needs before her own. Her supportive and nurturing nature, combined with her easygoing personality, made her a beloved figure in the lives of those she touched. Rita was also known for her compassionate spirit, generosity, and sense of humor.
Her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to her family will forever be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
