Richard “Ross” Kinney, 86, of Venus, Florida, passed away on November 23, 2024. Born on May 20, 1938, in Anderson, Indiana, Ross was the beloved son of the late Clayton and Mildred Kinney.
A proud resident of Highlands County for over 30 years, Ross was an active and cherished member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Lake Placid. His unwavering faith and kind spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Ross is survived by his devoted wife of ten years, Nora “Joy” Kinney, who was not only his loving companion but his best friend and source of endless joy. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and memories that will be treasured forever.
He is also survived by his children, Ron Kinney (Jan) of Texas and Karen Walker of Texas; his siblings, Norman Kinney (Jerri) of South Carolina and Marsha Kinney of Florida; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends.
Ross lived a life of passion and generosity. He had a love for aviation, spending many joyful hours building and flying model airplanes with his brother, Norman. He was also a car enthusiast, often referred to as "Mr. Fix-It" for his remarkable skills in repairing cars. Whether helping a friend with a repair or teaching his grandchildren about his hobbies, Ross’s dedication and talent shone through.
Above all, Ross will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and devotion to his loved ones. He cherished his family deeply, and his life was a testament to the values of love, faith, and service. Ross will be deeply missed but will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love him.
