Richard Allen Holmes of Sebring, Florida, passed away on April 20, 2025 at the age of 77. He was born on May 31, 1947, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to the late Wesley and Elizabeth Holmes.

A proud veteran, Richard served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was also a past exalted ruler and member of the Sebring Elks Lodge #1529.

When Richard wasn’t outside hunting or fishing, you could find him relaxing at home during his down time. In his earlier years, Richard loved to do a little travelling, and he was also really big into camping.

All in all, Richard was a great provider, a hard worker, and a family man. Although he was a strict parent, he did it out of love and meant well by it.

Richard is survived by his loving wife Wainetta Holmes, his daughter Heidi Tyner of Hastings, MI, son Scott Holmes of San Franscisco, CA, his sister Barbra Schneider (Fran) of Three Rivers, MI, his sister Gerry Bender of Kalamazoo, MI, his sister Sandy Kent (Herm) of Sebring, FL, his brother David Holmes (Kathy) of Sebring, FL, his sister Kathy Herman (Paul) of Kalamazoo, MI, his sister Chris Hammock (Tim) of Three Rivers, MI, followed by his three grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Wesley and Elizabeth Holmes, his brother John Holmes, his son-in-law Jody Tyner, and his sister Pamela Warner. Richard will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, and the deep love he had for his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
