Richard Earl Green

Richard Earl Green, age 73, passed away December 16, 2023 in Sebring, Florida.  He was born July 31, 1950 in Jacksonville, Florida to Earl H. and Mary T. (Walker) Green.  Ricky is survived by his Wife of 48 years, Renee Givens Green; Sister – Kara McNeil of Sebring, FL; Brother-in-law – Dicky Givens (Brenda) of Sebring, FL; Nephews – Travis Campbell of Melbourne, FL; Alan Givens (Lori) of Sebring, FL; Andrew Givens (Erica) of St. Augustine, FL.  Ricky and Renee were married March 15, 1975 at the home of Steve and Nell Roberts.  Ricky owned Green’s Surplus Store in Avon Park which was started by his father Earl.  He and Renee owned surplus stores in Ft. Pierce and Brandon.  Ricky and Renee were very active in their community.  Some of his activities include being a member of Union Congregation Church in Avon Park, past President of the Noon and Morning Rotary Clubs of Avon Park, past Chairman of the March of Dimes, past President of the Avon Park Chamber of Commerce, past board member of Sebring Salvation Army, and Mount Verde Academy, an Eagle Scout, and a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow.  Along with Steve and Nell Roberts, they started the Avon Park Mall Festival.  They loved to travel and traveled around the world with good friends Tom and Becky Barnett.  Ricky loved deep sea fishing and had many good times with best friend Ron Sevigny.  Stories always told of “the one that got away”!  Ricky was quite a dancer.  His mother sent him to Arthur Murray dance school.  He and Renee loved to dance.  Many fond memories were teaching best friend Jim Renfro’s daughter Katherine how to dance in the kitchen before her first dance when she was 10 years old.  Ricky was a pilot and a member of “QB”.  He owned his own plane and loved to fly.  So many good friends and so many happy memories.  His life was full and always full of adventure and laughter.  Ricky never met a stranger.  He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.  He was laid to rest in Lake Wales Cemetery beside his parents.  God bless him, he is in the hands of Jesus now.
