Richard (Dick) Thomas Gingrich, age 83, of Lake Placid, Florida and formerly of Clarksville, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2014. Dick was born to Leo and Thurl Gingrich in Joplin, Missouri on January 5, 1931. Dick was in the US Navy and proudly served in the Korean War. During his lifetime, Dick was the owner of a Burger Chef restaurant in Clarksville, Tennessee, where he was fond of saying "if you have time to lean, you have time to clean." Later, he owned Pal's Shop Easy in Oak Grove, Kentucky. He was a past governor of the Loyal Order of Moose, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a former treasurer and coach of Northwest Little League. Dick is preceded in death by one brother and one sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Phyllis Caldwell Gingrich, three children, Dennis (Cynthia) of Miami, Florida, Linda Clark (Ed) of Clearwater, Florida and John (Phyllis) of Clarksville, Tennessee, one sister, Mary Jean Cupp of Rogers, Arkansas, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. There will be no funeral services. He will be interred in the Sarasota National Cemetery.
