Preston James Dubbs

Preston James Dubbs (Uncle and Brother) Mr. Preston J. Dubbs, 83 of Avon Park, Florida, died October 15, 2011. Preston was born on March 29, 1928 in Glen Rock Pennsylvania. The son of Clinton Dubbs and Beulah Bowser-Dubbs. Following graduation from Glen Rock High School in 1946, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on several ships in the Pacific during World War II. Following the war, Preston returned to Glen Rock. He began to visit the nearby town of York where he met his beloved wife, Catherine Strine. Preston soon began his life long career. He worked on the Pennsylvania Railroad as a Detective which later led him to be a Police officer in Palm Springs, California. He retired to then enjoy the mountains of Colorado to the extreme humidity amongst the orange groves in Florida. He enjoyed a few incredible travels to Rome, the Holy Land, Australia and New Zealand. Preston was also an accomplished local painter of various scenes based on his life experiences. He was an avid golfer, loved to read a good book, but most importantly he loved spending time with all of his relatives. Preston is survived by three brothers, several dear nieces and nephews and lots of cousins. He rests in peace at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
