Phyllis Faye Scaggs

Phyllis Faye Scaggs, age 62, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022 in Sebring, Florida. She was born on April 5, 1960 in Tampa, Florida, the daughter of Richard Forrest and Velora (Wicker) Johnson. Phyllis worked as a music teacher. She graduated from Avon Park High School in 1978. She was a Brewton Parker alumnus, she started the Atlanta Children’s Choir, she served as minister of music and was a paid soloist in numerous churches in her lifetime. Phyllis was awarded the music alumni of the year in 2008. She represented the FBC and has been a resident of Sebring for more than 10 years. Phyllis was a member of Parkway Freewill Baptist Church. She was an artist and loved children.  Phyllis is survived by her loving husband - James; daughter - Laura Scaggs (Joe) of Avon Park, FL;  1 grandchild – JJ Pagan ; and 2 nieces- Miranda and Mariah Hodge; and a mother-in-law- Ethel Smallwood. She was preceded by her parents, and a sister Alice Hodge.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 with family to begin receiving guest at 11:00 until service time at 12:00 pm at Parkway Free Will Baptist Church, 3413 Sebring Parkway Sebring FL 33870.
