Peter "Pete" T. Van Gessel

Peter T. Van Gessel, age 80, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2015 in Sebring, Florida. He was born on March 1, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Peter F. and Lillian (O'Toole) Van Gessel. Pete was a veteran with the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He moved to Lake Placid in 1984 from Chicago and then moved to Sebring in 1996. Golfing and watching western movies were two things he enjoyed doing but spending time with his family was what he enjoyed the most. Peter is survived by his three children: Peter J. Van Gessel (Lori) of Chicago, IL; Kelly Van Gessel (Kai Steiner) of Sebring, FL and Karen Rose (Steve) of Chicago, IL, and six grandchildren: Kyle; Jason; Chrissy; Ashley; Briana; and Dezirea and one nephew: Tom Murphy of Palatine, IL Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Judy.
