Peggy Melinda Snelgrove

Snelgrove, Peggy Melinda, 62, passed away Sunday, December 29, 203 following a long, courageous and grace-filled battle with cancer. Peggy was born in Miami, Florida, the daughter of Charles & Phyllis Snelgrove. The family moved to Avon Park in 1960. She was a graduate of Avon Park High School, South Florida Community College and Florida Atlantic University. She was a retired Highlands County school teacher and also taught in Orange County. She was a member of Whispering Pines Baptist Church. An avid reader and dog lover, Peggy was a beloved sister and aunt as well as a generous and caring friend. She was the center of a loving extended family and kept everyone in touch. She will be greatly missed. Peggy is survived by sister Sharon Wicker and her husband Jerry; brother Charles (Butch) Snelgrove; niece and nephews Wendy Scott, Charlie, Kevin & Craig; and seven great-nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Whispering Pines Baptist Church, Sebring, Florida with Pastor Steve Trinkle officiating. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with visitation with the family one hour prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to Florida Baptist Children's Home, 1015 Sikes Boulevard, Lakeland, Florida 33815 or Good Shepherd Hospice, 1110 Hammock Road, Sebring, Florida 33870.
