She was the matriarch of the family. She unconditionally loved her family and friends. Her pride and joy were her 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild. Her favorite pastime was making quilts and blankets for all her children. She was truly known for her many sewing projects, especially her coasters that family, friends, neighbors, anyone she met, were gifted with. Baking was another passion of hers.
She worked as a cook at Ashland Community High School while her children went to school. Several transitions to different states found her working in the fabric department of various stores, J. C. Penny’s, in Middletown, CT. and after returning to ME, J. J. Newberry’s, in Millinocket, ME. They retired in Limington, ME. and became “snowbirds”, traveling from Limington to St. Petersburg, FL. in the winters. The last 9 years of her life was spent with her daughter, Veronica and husband Peter in St. Petersburg and Sebring, FL.
She was an avid supporter of the St. Vincent DePaul food pantry at St. Catherine’s in Sebring. Her membership with the Council of Catholic Women (CCW) at St. Catherine’s brought her joy.
There will be a small service with family and friends at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Sebring, date yet to be determined. In the fall her ashes will be taken to Maine and placed next to her husband Edmund at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta, Maine.
