Patricia M. Mlinar, born in Detroit in 1930 to ex bantam-weight Champion, Fighting Red Gallagher and mother, singer/comedian Babe Smith. Preceded in death by her parents and brother Oscar. She passed away on Saturday, May 2, in Sebring, FL. Pat attended Cass Technical High School in Detroit where she met and later married her first husband, Don Mlinar. After high school, Pat attended Harper Hospital's Nursing School where she excelled and eventually became a highly respected Chief Nurse with the American Red Cross, where she was influential in starting their nurses' union. Pat settled in Sebring, Florida with her husband and life partner of 41 years, Lee Alvey. Lee was by her side when she suffered a severe stroke (2003), and cancer (2005). Still determined and unceasing in her love of life, a fall in her home in 2013 left her unable to care for herself. Pat and Lee enjoyed many years together, boating, RV'ing and traveling between their summer home in Grayling, Michigan and various locations in Florida. Pat loved to dance, dress up and people were drawn to her for her humor and big smile. She leaves behind her loving husband, Lee, sisters, Barbara and Kathy, children, Deborah, Lauri and Dan, daughter-in-law, Peg, son-in-law, Troy, nieces and nephews and their children.
