Paolo Abbate

PAOLO ABBATE Paolo Abbate, age 91, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013 in Fort Pierce, Florida. He was born in Italy on January 22, 1922 to Antonio and Vincenza (Garitta) Abbate. He was the Owner and Operator of a Grocery Store and was a Restauranter and was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church. He served in the Italian Army Calvary during WWII and was a prisoner of war for 2 years. He was an Italian immigrant who came to this country to live the American Dream; he gained his US citizenship and became a successful business owner and raised his family. He was a resident of Port St. Lucie since 2012 coming from Sebring. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anna Abbate, Port St. Lucie; daughter, Enza Abbate-Denino (Michael), Stuart, FL; son, Vito G. Abbate, Sebring; four sisters; grandsons, Paul D., Paul A., Mikel and Vito; he was preceded in death by his sons, Antonio and Vito Abbate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 11, 2013 from 10:00 - 12:00 PM , with funeral services at 1:00 PM at St. Catherine Catholic Church with Father Victor Caviedes officiating.
