Oswald Zobrist

REV. OSWALD ZOBRIST Rev. Oswald Zobrist, 83, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Monday, November 9, 2009, in Sebring. He was born February 5, 1926, to Friedrich and Louise (Schmid) Zobrist in Switzerland, and had been a resident of Sebring since October, 2006, coming from Ft. Mill, South Carolina. He served in the Swiss Military in peacetime and was a wagon builder. After attending two years at Beatenberg Bible School, he was ordained, went to England to learn English and joined SIM. He then went to France to learn French, after which he served SIM in Benin, The Ivory Coast and Niger. He was a member of Sparta Road Baptist Church in Sebring. Mr. Zobrist is survived by his Wife, Goldie Zobrist, of Sebring; Children, Fred (Carla) Zobrist, Rome, GA; Cora Louise (Ken) Klay, Luverne, MN; Bill (Jill) Zobrist, Pasadena, CA and Heidi (Jorge) Guzman, Ft. Mill, SC, and 13 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first Wife, Irene Zobrist. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2009, at the SIM Fellowship Hall in Sebring. Funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 13, 2009, in the SIM Chapel, Rev. Rick Rodriguez officiating, with an additional visitation prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment at Pinecrest Cemetery in Sebring will be immediately following the service. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Mr. Zobrist to SIM, 4114 Nigeria Street, Sebring, Florida 33875.
