Norman McLean McLeod, age 81 passed away Thursday, February 10, 2011 in Sebring, Florida. He was born in Bishop Briggs, Scotland to James M. and Mary (Stephenson) McLeod. Mr. McLeod was a wood model maker, he served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, he was of the Methodist faith, he was a lifetime member of the Elks and he enjoyed traveling, golfing, playing the piano, dancing and spending time with his family and friends. Mr. McLeod has been a winter visitor to Highlands County since 1982 coming from Lewiston, Michigan. He is survived by his wife of 60 years-Raylene McLeod of Lewiston, Michigan; daughters-Karen Burke (Don) of Sterling Heights, Michigan and Kathy Hicks (Ray) of Romeo, Michigan; grandchildren-Jennifer Macdonald (Tim) of Washington, Michigan and Jacqueline Conway (Brian) of Sterling Heights, Michigan and 2 great grandchildren-Kylie and Isabella; several nieces and nephews. Mr. McLeod was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers. A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 13, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home with Pastor Aaron JahJah officiating.
