Norma Iris Ascencio

Norma Iris Ascencio, age 81, passed away on April 3, 2024, in Sebring, Florida. She was born on May 25, 1942, in St. Croix, Virgin Islands, to her loving parents Bentio and Mercedes Rosa Ascencio.

A resident of Sebring since 2006, coming from Puerto Rico. Norma was a faithful member of the Catholic Church and found solace in her faith. Norma will be remembered for her love of Mexican music, passion for cooking delicious meals, and enjoyment of playing scratch-off lotto tickets and visiting the casino. Norma's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family.

Norma was a devoted wife to her husband, Lorenzo Hernandez Alonso, and a cherished mother to her children Maria Elena Figueredo, Maria Carmen Macias, and Gaudy Elenia Hernandez. She was also a caring sister to Betty Ascencio and her brothers Oscar Ascencio, David Ascencio, and Angel Ascencio. Norma adored her seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, finding immense joy in their presence.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Bentio and Mercedes Rosa Ascencio, and her brother, Fernando Ascencio. While she is no longer with us, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her love.

Funeral services to honor and celebrate Norma's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home with Father Orlando officiating.  Family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 AM.  Entombment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
