NEWITT WALKER Newitt Walker, 85, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2010, in Sebring. He was born December 11, 1924, to Mack Clifford and Alma (Leggette) Walker in Hemmingway, South Carolina, and had been a resident of Sebring since 1999, coming from New Britain, Connecticut. He was a steel worker with Stanley Works in New Britain for over 30 years; a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army; a member of the VFW and a volunteer for Florida Hospital. He was a member and usher of the Spottswood Zion AME Church in New Britain, CT. Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his wife, Earoline Richburg Walker; sons, Newitt Walker, Jr. and Newitt Walker III and sister, Elvira Walker Rogers. He is survived by his daughter, Phyllis (Patrick) Hargrove of Sebring; grandsons, Newitt Walker IV and Samuel A. (Stephanie) Walker; two great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Memorial Services, with military honors, will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2010 at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, Sebring, Rev. Jack Washington officiating, with inurnment at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park, FL, immediately following the service.
