Nellie May Freeborn

Nellie May Freeborn passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024, in Sebring, Florida, at the age of 94. Born on May 12, 1930, in Warwick, New York, to the late Thomas and Laura Coates, Nellie brought joy and warmth to all who knew her. She moved to Florida over thirty years ago, carrying with her the vibrant spirit and hard-working values.
Nellie dedicated much of her life to her work as a seamstress, crafting with skill and pride. As a member of the Bible Fellowship Church of Sebring, Nellie found comfort and community in her faith. A woman of many passions, Nellie enjoyed the quiet beauty of nature, finding peace in sunsets and moments of stillness. She expressed her creativity through cross-stitching, creating pieces that reflected the care and patience she brought to all she did. She had a true love of travel and found a special delight in train and riverboat trips, savoring each journey with an adventurous spirit.
Above all, Nellie cherished her role as a grandmother, filling her family’s lives with love. She loved and spoiled her grandchildren with boundless affection, building cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Her cats held a special place in her heart, and she had a deep appreciation for animals, reflecting her gentle and compassionate nature.
Nellie is survived by her four children: Frank Card (JoAnn Bott) of Springwater, NY; Robert Card of Hilton, NY; Bonnie Card-Miller (Jeffrey Miller) of Sebring, FL; and Bruce Card (Sue Fleig) of Bloomfield, NY. She leaves behind six adored grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever remember her nurturing spirit and radiant smile.
Nellie will be remembered as a woman who was hard-working, fun-loving, dedicated, nurturing, faithful, and joyful. Her family and friends will miss her deeply but find comfort in knowing she is at peace, forever watching over them.
