Nellie Bair, an unstoppable force of joy and love, peacefully transitioned by the morning of December 5th, 2023, at her Sebring, FL home. She lived life with a passion that touched every soul she encountered.
She was born on April 24, 1942, in Weaverville, North Carolina. Her parents Dora and William Carl Parton, Jr. preceded her in death, as well as the love of her life and husband of 12 years, Ron Bair, and precious granddaughter Kyrie Wingler.
Nellie’s zest for life took her through North Carolina, Virginia, and finally, Florida, where she started an incredible journey creating bonds with all walks of life that will last for eternity.
Nellie leaves behind a legacy woven with love, survived by her adoring children: Anita (Mark) DeWitt of Sebring, FL, Lorri Anne (Edward) Barnett of Sebring, FL, and Johnny Wingler of Nashville, TN. Her spirit continues through her five cherished grandchildren: Shannon Zahn, Craig DeWitt, Drew DeWitt, Christopher Rhodes, and Deanna Blackford and the 15 great-grandchildren who carry her spark. Her friendships were invaluable, and she leaves behind cherished companions Jane, Butch, Rhetta, and Janet.
A trailblazer in the banking world, Nellie's career ignited in Virginia during the 70s, culminating as Vice President at First Union in Florida. Even after retiring, she poured her heart into Wauchula State Bank until her final retirement in 2005.
Nellie's community dedication knew no bounds. She was a pillar as treasurer and member at First Presbyterian Church, passionately supporting Samaritan's Purse and Florida ARP Women's Ministry. Her civic engagement extended to serving as Treasurer for the local Kiwanis Club and her appointment to the Judicial Nominating Committee by former Governor Christie.
Beyond her career and community service, Nellie thrived in her passions. Crocheting was her art, and exploring the world was her canvas. Yet, nothing compared to the joy she found in sharing moments with her cherished family and friends, especially during their lively monthly Ladies Night Out gatherings.
A celebration of Nellie's life will be hosted at First Presbyterian Church of Sebring, Florida, 319 Poinsettia Ave, on December 18, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. In honor of her impactful life, the family kindly requests donations to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society Lung Research, ensuring her legacy continues to brighten the lives of others.
