Nunnallee, Nancy B., 92, went to be with the Lord on April 25, 2015. She passed as she lived her life - with class and dignity. She was born on June 1, 1922, in Marlborough, New York, the daughter of the late Walter S. and Jane (Pratt) Betts. She moved with her family to Avon Park in 1934 at the age of 12 and graduated as valedictorian from Avon Park High School in 1940. She attended Brenau College in Gainesville, Georgia, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority, and graduated with a degree in music in 1944. In 1943 she met Hue E. Nunnallee, who had come to the Avon Park bombing range to train as a B-26 bomber pilot, marrying him when he returned from overseas in 1945. She reared seven children in a most loving and wise manner. She lived life to the fullest and loved to play bridge, sing in the church choir and Sweet Adelines, play saxophone in the Highlands county Band, read history and the classics (particularly Pride and Prejudice), keep up with the news, travel, cook for her family, and participate in many activities at Union Church in Avon Park. She was always very young at heart right up to the end of her time on earth, and was much loved by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hue; daughter, Bobby; granddaughter, Patty; and sister, Bobby Kluberg. She is survived by her children, Tom Nunnallee (Jo) of Sebring; Jane Blankenship of Helena, Alabama; Jim Nunnallee (Karolyn) of Fort Meade; Walter Nunnallee (Joyce) of Orlando; Sara Albritton (Gene) of Whittier, North Carolina; and Sue Roman of Chattanooga, Tennessee. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Ben, Carol, Bonnie, Stacey, Katie, David, Jeanne, Claire, Andy, Matt, Marc, Beth, Rachel, and Raphael, 12 great grandchildren: Andrea, Taylor, Erin, Karsyn, Walker, Benjamin, Kaitlyn, Regan, Paxton, Jaeger, Laurel, and Cole, and two great great grandchildren: Tyler and Lauren. Her life is summed up by these words: Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Union Church in Avon Park with Pastor Bill Breylinger officiating. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Union Church of Avon Park or Good Shepherd Hospice in Sebring.
