Nancy M. Goodman

Nancy Goodman, age 76, was born on February 19, 1939 passed away peacefully on October 1, 2015 in Sebring. Nancy was born in Baltimore, Maryland and relocated with her family to South Florida as a child. She had a passion for helping people and upon completion of high school attended Stetson University and then received her degree in Nursing from Miami-Dade Community College. She began her career in nursing in the Miami area and went to work for over 20 years at Victoria Hospital. During her time at Victoria Hospital she rose to the position of head nurse. It was at Victoria Hospital where she would meet her soulmate, best friend and husband of 34 years Fred. In 1986 she retired from her position at Victoria Hospital and moved to Highlands County to begin what was to be her retirement. Thankfully her retirement was short-lived and she returned to the field of nursing. She went to work at the Family Practice Center in Avon Park where for many years she worked alongside Dr. Donald Geldart and Dr. Ray Tangunan, both of whom were to become lifelong friends. Nancy liked people, shopping and gardening but her passion was cruising where she spent more than 500 days at sea with her husband Fred. Nancy is survived by her niece Cindy Ross (Jeff); great nephew Jordan Ross; and nephew Robert Moore Jr.(Sherry); great niece Amber Moore and , stepchildren Jeff Ryer, Michael Goodman , Glenn Goodman and Amy Berrong (Milford), step- grandchildren Rebecca, Joseph, Jonathan, Jacqueline, Christopher and Kirsten. She is predeceased by her husband Fred, mother, Dorothy "Granny" Moore, brother Robert Moore and Step Grandson Matthew Grubb. A graveside Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2015 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Avon Park, FL. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Good Shepherd Hospice House, 111 Hammock Road, Sebring, Fl 33870.
