Nancy Lou Galida passed away in Severn, Maryland on December 3, 2017. She was born August 7, 1936 in Springfield, Illinois to Evelyn and Lou Torrey. Nancy is survived by her loving family, son, Torrey Galida (Cathy), daughter, Jennifer Linnekin (Richard), three grandchildren, Hannah Murray, Lauren Galida and Jack Galida, and sister Joan Farmer (Stan). Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Bill, her best friend and devoted husband of 56 years, her sisters Carol Mullaly and Gail Feroux (Bill), and her beloved son, William Todd Galida. Nancy graduated from Sioux Falls High School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She moved to Denver, Colorado where she worked for Bonfils Theater. During this time she met her husband Bill, an airman at Lowry Air Force Base. Throughout her life, she gave generously of her time to the community. As a young mother, she served as president of the Northglenn, Colorado Little League Football Auxiliary and the Little League Baseball Auxiliary. On almost any Saturday, Nancy could be seen driving her white convertible from ballpark to ballpark delivering food for the concession stands. Later in life, she spent months preparing the design for her table for the annual Our Lady of Grace fundraiser. She was also president of the Sebring American Legion women’s auxiliary. Nancy’s true passion in life was interior design. She worked for many years as an interior and floral designer. She had a wonderful talent creating beautiful spaces. Nancy also enjoyed travel. She and husband Bill traveled to all 50 states and numerous foreign countries. The highlight of their travels was a 30-day Mediterranean cruise. Nancy was truly the beloved matriarch of the Galida family. She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren and many friends. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at the Hospice of the Chesapeake for their compassionate care. There will be a Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Avon Park, Florida and a celebration of her life at Crystal Lake Club in January, 2018.
