Myra Guinn Durrence, age 71, beloved daughter of James Franklin Guinn Jr. and Mary June (Elmore) Guinn, was born on May 11, 1952, in Hopkinsville, KY. She passed away on March 3, 2024, in Sebring, FL.
Myra was a loving soul who dedicated her life to her family and community. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Donald Durrence. Myra's memory will forever be cherished by her daughters - Wendy Spain, Holly Martz (Brian), Anna Jacobs (Collin); her brother - James "Jim" Guinn III; her sister - Marsha Oberry (Joe); 5 grandchildren - Rebecca Spain, Haley Jacobs, Hagen Jacobs, Titan Jacobs, and Ricky "Bubua" Spain; and 1 great-grandchild - Aponi Nelson.
Myra spent many years working as a school bus driver, touching the lives of countless children with her kindness and care. After her morning routes she would go to work for the cafeterias for the schools then she would get back on her school bus for the afternoon routes. She was a dedicated member of the community, serving as a 4-H co- leader, and working in a daycare in her early years and the gate station in Lake Placid for years. Myra was also a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Placid Lakes and had been a resident of Highlands County since 1960. In her free time, Myra enjoyed sewing, cooking, and baking. Her family meant everything to her.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Myra's life will be held on March 10, 2024, at 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Placid Lakes 116 Cleveland Avenue N.E., Lake Placid 33852.
Myra Guinn Durrence will be remembered as a kind-hearted woman who spread love and joy wherever she went. Her legacy of compassion and selflessness will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace.
