Special mention of Joe Hammerquist who has been a special part of the family.

Morris lived most of his adult life in the small town of Elwood, IL. He preferred the quiet of the country over the hustle of the city. He was a hardworking bricklayer and owned McPherson Construction that was known for his quality of work. He always worked on a handshake. His son Roger worked by his side as he grew up and later took over the company allowing him to retire.

Morris loved the fall and went hunting every season. His home held many of his deer trophies. After the fall, he and Rita packed up and headed to Florida for the winter, then eventually stayed year-round.

He and Rita were classic car collectors that started with a 1960 Corvette in which he took both of his daughters to the church on their wedding days. They made many friends in Illinois and Florida, attending car shows and cruise nights. His garage was filled with 100’s of trophies. He often shared those trophies when anyone visited.

A special thank you to Linda Ball for being his caregiver and ensuring his supply of butter pecan ice cream and cinnamon donuts were well stocked. Words cannot express our gratitude enough.
