Modesto Augusto Diaz Sr.

Modesto Augusto Diaz, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, 20 January 2021 in Sebring, FL. He was born on February 12, 1936 in Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua, to the late Enrique and Eva Meijia (Martinez) Diaz. Modesto was a hard-working, strong and vibrant man of Catholic faith. He worked as a supervisor at a U.S. Naval supply base in Bayonne, New Jersey. He retired to Sebring, Florida in 1999 where he became a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed volunteering at South Florida Hospital. He was an avid New York Yankees baseball fan, and loved listening to Frank Sinatra music, and watching his classic movie collection.

Modesto is survived by his loving children – Sandra McLeod of Sebring, FL; Gwen Pineau(Wil) of Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Joanne Diaz-Berry (RJ) of Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Tony Diaz of San Antonio, TX; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents Enrique and Eva (Martinez) Diaz, his loving first wife June Palmizano de Diaz, and his eldest son Modesto “Bobby” Diaz Jr.
