Michael Maxwell, a native of Flomaton Alabama and long time resident of Florida passed away leaving behind a legacy of compassion, service, and unwavering dedication to others.
Michael devoted many years to the Department of Veterans Affairs as a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist, where he was deeply committed to serving veterans and advancing mental health education. His work and advocacy had a lasting impact on countless individuals and their families.
A Master's graduate in Social Work with concentrations in Child Welfare and Substance Abuse from the University of West Florida, Michael used both his education and his life experiences to guide and uplift others. He transformed the darkest moments of his own life into a beacon of hope for those who needed it most.
Michael will be remembered for his generous and servant's heart, steadfast friendship, and his ability to bring comfort, laughter, and a reason for a L'Chayim to any occasion. He had a deep love for God, for people, and for the things that brought beauty and connection to life, including culinary arts, music, and his collection of Judaica.
He is survived by his father, Paul Headley; his sons, Philip, Eugene, and Marquise; and his chosen family, the Trinidad family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn, and his sister, Melanie.
Though Michael is no longer with us, the love, wisdom, and light he shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May his memory be a blessing. May we live inspired by his words.
