Merle Forrest Minor

Merle Forrest Minor, 86, of Florida, formerly of Okawville, IL, passed away on January 8th, 2025. Merle was born in Mendota, IL the son of Rollie and Mary Minor née Danakas. He married Patsy Cannady on March 6th, 1959.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Rollie and Mary, his sister Marlene Minor, and his grandchildren, Nathan and Jason Borrenpohl.

Surviving are his wife Patsy and children: Beverly Minor of Texas, Wendy Clark (Peter) of Illinois; Corey Minor (Barb) of Texas; brother David Minor (Elizabeth) of California; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Everyone will remember Merle for his fun-loving spirit, kindness, and the warmth he brought to all his friends and family. He worked as a union plumber and pipefitter for Haire Plumbing and Heating in Okawville, IL for over 30 years.  Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and trapping. He had a great love for nature, the outdoors, and helping other people.

He loved people, animals, and especially Ice Cream! Merle and his wife, Patsy, enjoyed their retirement travels around the US and abroad. After moving to Florida, he made another community of friends. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
