Melvin Browdy, aged 87, passed away on June 5, 2023. He was born on May 18, 1936, in Wauchula, Florida, to Johnny Browdy and Ollie Mae Turner. Melvin was one of eight children and had a diverse professional background. He dedicated over 15 years of his life as a Hardee County Deputy Sheriff before transitioning to become a skilled electrical lineman for Peace River Electric, where he retired after over 30 years of service. Not really ready for retirement, he followed his entrepreneurial spirit and ran a trucking business before his last job as a security agent for South Florida State College.

Melvin held his family dear and enjoyed spending quality time with them. Summer vacations were often spent traveling to the beach, visiting relatives, and exploring various destinations throughout the country. As an avid swimmer, he found joy in the ocean. Additionally, Melvin had a passion for watching sports, gardening and a bit of farming, raising a couple of pigs and cows, and pursued several interests such as songwriting, music appreciation, and tinkering with electronics. He actively participated in his community, previously being a member of the Masons and involved in civic organizations.

Melvin is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 63 years, Alma Jean Browdy, and his loving children Terry Andre Browdy, Laura Browdy Jones, and Angeleah Liburd Browdy. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Melvin leaves behind loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, including Johnny Browdy, Sidney Browdy, Margaret Snell, Lidia Mae Callier, John Henry Browdy, Alice Browdy Walden, as well as his adopted brothers Wilbert and Willie James Turner (living).

Melvin's warm presence, cherished memories, and the impact he had on those around him will be greatly missed. His legacy will forever live on in the hearts of his beloved family and friends.
