Mary Jo Sherman

Mary Jo Sherman, age 82, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2015 in Sebring, FL. She was born on November 10, 1932 in Fremont, OH to the late Chester and Ruth (Miller) Barber. She graduated from Fremont Ross High in 1950. Mary Jo had been a resident of Avon Park since 2002 having come from Indianapolis, IN where she worked as a Volunteer Coordinator at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, Indiana. She attended Union Congregational Church, was a member of the River Green Country Club, P.E.O. Sisterhood and the Red Hat Society. She is survived by her husband Richard "Dick" Sherman of Avon Park; son Doug Coltrain of Indianapolis, IN; daughters Tammy Swisher of Loveland, CO and Gale Diaz of Eldersburg, MD; step-daughter Vicki Werling of Colorado Springs, CO; step-son Jimmy Sherman of Kingwood, TX; sister Janet Armbruster of Perrysburg, OH; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mary Jo was preceded in death by her first husband Dr. John D. Coltrain on August 21, 1978. Family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to: Union Congregational Church at 106 N.
