Mary Louise Leatherman, 88, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012, in Lake Placid, Florida. She was born January 5, 1924, to Chester and Ida (Conrad) Brownell in Easton, Pennsylvania, and had been a resident of Lake Placid since 1967, coming from Pennsylvania. She was a homemaker and a past member of the Elks, the VFW and the Sebring Golf Course and a former member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she served as President of the Faithful Followers. She spent three years as Secretary of the Choir and also volunteered at the Faith Closet. She was currently a member of St. John United Methodist Church and was a very active member of the Hope Circle there. She is survived by her husband, John William Leatherman of Sebring; daughter, Margaret (John) Thorpe, Sebring; granddaughter, Susan and great-grandchildren, Bradley and Katie. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at St. John United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ronald DeGenaro, Jr. officiating. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Good Shepherd Hospice, 1110 Hammock Rd., Sebring, FL 33870.
