Mary Alice James Schuster

August 16, 1935 — February 22, 2024

Mary Alice James Schuster, age 88, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, passed away on February 22, 2024, in Sebring, Florida. She was born on August 16, 1935, in Aurora, Indiana, to the late John James and Elsie Dorrell.

Mary was a devoted wife to her husband of 69 years, Harry Fredrick Schuster. They moved to Sebring from Riverdale, GA. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. She was a wonderful mother to her daughters, Catherine and Patricia. While she is preceded in death by her parents and daughter Catherine Schuster Williams, Mary leaves behind her daughter Patricia Schuster Wincek (Ronald Jr.) of Lawrenceville, GA. Mary is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, who will always carry her spirit in their hearts.

Throughout her life, Mary found joy in the simple pleasures of oil painting landscapes, writing poetry, knitting, crocheting, and quilting. Her talents extended to the kitchen, where she was renowned for her delicious pies and cookies. Her cookies, in particular, were a source of delight for all who had the pleasure of tasting them. Mary enjoyed engaging in friendly competition through games of Scrabble and Dominos, always bringing enthusiasm and laughter to those around her.

Mary was a dedicated telephone operator and a faithful member of the Maranatha Baptist Church. She had been a resident of Sebring for 29 years, having moved from Mishawka, IN. Mary's involvement in the community extended to her membership in the AWANA Clubs and her missionary work for the state of Georgia.

A funeral service to celebrate Mary's life will be held on February 28, 2024, at 1:30 PM at Sarasota National Cemetery, State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL, USA. In honoring Mary's memory, let us carry forward her spirit of love, creativity, and compassion in all that we do.

Mary was devoted to her personal Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She spoke of Him to everyone she met. She is in His presence now and would want to know that her family and friends also have a personal relationship with Him so that we may see her again.
