MARY B. HAAS Mary B. Haas passed away early on Monday, October 24, 2011, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Sebring, Florida, after an extended illness. Mary was born in Bremen, Indiana on March 29, 1935, to John and Eunice (Wray) Stoller. She graduated from Bremen High School and moved to Chicago, where she attended the Sherwood Music School to study piano. She lived and worked in Chicago until her marriage to Fred Haas in 1957. Fred and Mary eventually settled in Plymouth, Indiana, where they lived until retiring to Sebring in 1994. After her children started school, Mary attended Ancilla College and completed her degree in elementary education at Indiana University, South Bend. She was elected and swerved as Marshall County Clerk and then County Auditor from 1975 until 1991. Mary also served as President of the Indiana State Auditors Association and as Chair of the Marshall County Democrat Party. She was a long time member of Trinity Methodist Church and was active in Eastern Star, the Eagles, Moose, American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries and Delta Theta Tau Sorority. After retirement, Mary enjoyed playing golf, socializing with friends and watching Notre Dame Football. She is survived by her husband, Fred of Sebring; daughter, Susan of Seattle, Washington and son, Steve and Cindy (East) of Noblesville, Indiana; grandsons, Stephen and Molly (McShane) of Fishers, Indiana; Andy of Chicago, Illinois; Paul of Minneapolis, Minnesota and the Haas family brothers and sisters-in-law, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2011, at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Sebring, with additional services to be held in Plymouth, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 1110 Hammock Road, Sebring, FL 33870.
