Mary P. Derflinger Mary P. Derflinger, 86, went to her eternal reward on Wednesday, November 5, 2014. Born in Winchester, Va. August 31, 1928 to Douglas Dell and Irene Clem Pierce. She is predeceased by her parents, two sisters infant Dorothy Pierce and Helen Orndoff. Mary was also predeceased by two husbands Leonard Eugene Facemire Sr and Cecil William Derflinger; a grandson Troy "24" Bostick; two brothers -in- law Robert Cullers and William Dickerson. She is survived by three children Jacqueline F Foote and husband Ralph R. III of Fayetteville, NC; Beverly D. Bostick and husband Art of Avon Park, Florida; Leonard Eugene Facemire Jr. (Terry) and wife Patsy Costello Facemire of Hope Mills, NC. She is also survived by six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters Georgia P Cullers, Cora P Dickerson, a brother-in-law Henry Orndoff of Winchester. Mary followed her first husband's career serving the Salvation Army. She later worked for the Sylvania Corporation and the Winchester Woolen Mill. The last thirty-three years of her career was devoted to the Henkel-Harris Furniture Company, as supervisor in the finishing department she would address the High Point Furniture Market International on finish, quality and design. Her love for finishing furniture carried over to retirement as her second husband was a master carpenter and watch repair and clock maker. Together they refinished clocks and furniture for people throughout the Shenandoah Valley. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with funeral service officiated by Reverend George Hall beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Shenandoah Memorial Park in Winchester, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Good Shepard Hospice. The family would like to extend their heart felt gratitude to the staff of the Good Shepherd Hospice of Highlands County their excellent professional care. We also want to thank Mary's daughter, Beverly Bostick and her grandson, Brad Haislip for their round the clock care during her last days.
