Mary Elizabeth Gatto Cousins, age 77, of Sebring, Florida, passed away on April 12, 2026 in Sebring.

Born on April 28, 1948 in Peterborough, New Hampshire to Anthony Gatto and Jean Simmons Gatto (Peters). Mary attended Conant High School and Chandler School for Women, and later pursued a career with National City Bank, although those close to her know she lived for Fridays and days away from work.

Mary was known for how deeply she loved her husband (“the best husband to ever exist” in her words), children, grandchildren, and siblings. She enjoyed the final years of her life in Florida, traveling and soaking up every moment of fun she could find. You’d often find her on her early morning 6 mile walks, exploring new places and experiences with Wayne, reconnecting with her siblings, and meeting new friends. She spent much of her time volunteering within the Tanglewood community at the library and attending dances with great music.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Cousins of 49 years, her children Mia (Paul) White and Zachary (Kate) Cousins, her four beloved grandchildren; Anna (16), Stella (14), Gianna (13), and Charlotte (12), and her siblings, Joe (Terry) Gatto, Richard (Donna) Gatto, and Toni (David) Deschenes.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Anthony Gatto and Jean Simmons Gatto (Peters), additionally her step-father, Stan Peters.

In honor of Mary’s passing, please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the signs of heart attacks in women - often completely different from what is commonly shared mainstream.
