Dr. Marvin Bernard Strope

Age 90, August 20th 1934 - June 18th 2025

Marvin Strope was born in Sayre, Pennsylvania the child of Mahlon Brewster Strope Sr. and Margaret Mary Strope.  He grew up in Towanda, Pennsylvania as one of six siblings.

A lifelong educator, he received his Doctor of Education degree from Utah State University.  In 1965 Marvin helped to establish the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls, Idaho. He taught math, physics, and other sciences there for almost forty years.

Marvin had an adventurous spirit and was always ready to explore.  He travelled the world from Tibet to Patagonia, taking photographs and visiting six continents along the way.  He enjoyed many sports, including softball, archery, and pickleball.  But most of all Marvin loved spending time in the mountains.

Marvin is preceded in death by a daughter, Sonia.  He is survived by two daughters: Linda and Julia, and by Ingrid, his wife of nearly seventy years.  Marvin Strope was a kind, adventurous, thoughtful, and loving man, and he will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Sebring, Florida at 2:00pm on Friday, June 27th.
