Martha Lou Ranson

Martha "Marty" Lou Ranson, age 74, of Lake Placid, FL, passed away Friday, February 8, 2013 at her home. She was born October 28, 1938 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Elwood Riley and Iva Marie (Smith) Borders. She worked for the State of Florida and the Traffic Division of the Highlands County Clerk of Courts for over 30 years, retiring in 2004. Marty enjoyed quilting, traveling, spending time with family and friends, was a member of the Red Hat Highlanders Chapter of the Red Hat Society, of the Baptist Faith, and a resident of Highlands County since 1966, coming from Michigan. She is survived by her Daughters - Mary Lattig (Robert) of Lakeland, FL and Patricia Pablo (Carlos) of Lake Placid, FL; two Grandchildren - Donald Markland (Jennifer) of Lakeland, FL and Kara Blanton (Bradley) of Sebring, FL; and four Great Grandchildren - Heather, Robert, Kason, and Rylee. She was preceded in death by her Husband - Boyd David Ranson, of whom were married October 29, 1959 in Sullivan County, Indiana; six Brothers; and six Sisters. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 6:00 PM at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM. In keeping with her wishes of cremation, a private interment will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Home Society, 4300 Sparta Road, Sebring, FL 33875.
