On this day, Thursday, February 6, 2025, our creator said to Penny, “Your place with me is prepared. Come be with me and experience my love as it was meant to be.”
Penny was born Dec 4, 1941 in Charleston, West Virginia. She married Frank S. Irilli on Nov. 18, 1961. She has two sons, Steven J. Irilli (62) Las Vegas, NV and Michael A. Irilli (Lyn) (59) Aiken, SC. A brother, David Maloney (Mary) Indianapolis, In. She has 6 Grandchildren, Ryan, Rhianon, Brittney, Justin, Anthony and Matthew. She has 7 Great Grandchildren Malia, Malcolm, Calvin, Adelaide, Scottie, Taylor, Haelyn and Isla due in June 2025. She has many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in rest by her parents Joseph P. and Virginia Elizabeth Morrison Maloney and her brother Michael Maloney.
Penny earned a degree in Business Administration from Youngstown State University which aided her in becoming a successful Real Estate agent for more than ten years. Being an avid reader she later founded, owned and operated a craft store and book shop in Norwalk, Ohio called The Book Nook. She helped thousands of readers discover new authors. She along with her husband and mother, created quality wood crafts and sewn items that were sold in the store and throughout Ohio via craft shows. She was a self-taught toll painter and Calligraphist.
She loved to travel and visited many destinations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Africa and Australia and also sailed in the Atlantic, Pacific, South Pacific and Caribbean Oceans. She visited Africa multiple times as it was her favorite destination. Skiing was a favorite past time and she frequently shared fond memories with her Sandusky Ski Club friends Roger, Doug and Paul. As a new skier with limited skills, they let her tag along and helped develop her skills. She became an avid skier and enjoyed skiing throughout the United States and Canada with her favorite destination being in the mountains of Utah.
She lived in Norwalk, Ohio for most of her married life, but as a child she moved frequently. In 2007 she and Frank moved to the Tanglewood community in Sebring, Florida. She cherished Tanglewood and the people in it considering it her “HOME”. While there she was involved with numerous committees. She absolutely loved leading the Trips and Travel committee where she researched and planned trips for the community. “Choose Happy” was her mantra and she displayed many Choose Happy decorations.
Philanthropy and helping others have always been important to her. She and Frank gave generously to St. Jude, Smile Train and locally to Good Sheppard Hospice and Hands for the Homeless among other charities. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to one of these honorable organizations.
