Marta Rodriguez

Marta Rodriguez, age 86, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017 in Sebring, Florida. She was born on April 18, 1930 in Cayey, Puerto Rico to the late Modesto and Celestina (Collazo) Rodriguez. Marta moved to Sebring in 2010 coming from Homestead, Florida and was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, ceramics and crafts. She devoted her life to her family and she will be greatly missed by them all.  Survivors include her six daughters: Carmen (Jose) Murga-Lake Placid, FL, Lucy (Zenon) Ayala-Sebring, FL, Betty Rodriguez-Davie, FL, Elsie (Aslam) Rehman-Las Vegas, NV, Evelyn (Emmett) Jimenez-Homestead, FL, Carolyn (Andy) Brewer-England; five sons: Hector B. (Maria)Rodriguez-Panama City, FL, Victor R. (Lisa) Rodriguez-NY, Vernon (Jean) Rodriguez-Tacoma, WA, Edward (Norma) Rodriguez-Puyallup, WA, Ruddy (Evelyn) Rodriguez-Olympia, WA; two brothers: Antonia Rodriguez, Baltazar Rodriguez both of Puerto Rico; 36 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.  Marta was preceded in death by her husband: Bernardino Rodriguez; daughter: Marilyn Rodriguez; and four brothers. There will be a Funeral Mass on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, 9:00 a.m. at St. Catherine Catholic Church with Father Jose Gonzalez officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, 5:00 -8:00 p.m. at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Sebring.  Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Sarasota National Cemetery.
