MARLENE STELLA HELWIG Marlene Stella Helwig, born December 21, 1937, found her peace with the Lord on June 13, 2013. A native of Detroit, Michigan, she volunteered at both of her daughters' schools. She moved to Pompano Beach, Florida in 1982, and while working at the Boca Raton Hotel, she met Albert Helwig, whom she married in 1983. Their nickname for each other was "Luv". Marlene was devoted to her church and served on/chaired the Altar Guild for many years. She moved to Sebring in 2003, where she helped in the costume department at the Highlands Little Theatre for several seasons. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Lydia (Kause) Schemansky; her sister, Delphine Bean and her brother, Leonard Schemansky, Jr. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Albert Helwig; her two daughters, Denise Miriani of Sebring, FL and Michelle (Mark) Jones of Jacksonville, FL; sons, Jeff (Mady) Helwig; Kip Helwig and Scott Helwig, all of Boca Raton, FL and Lieutenant Colonel Michael (Kellee) Helwig of Clarksville, TN; sisters, Barbara Gombar (Ralph Uleski) of Grand Blanc, MI and Madeline McNally of Bozeman, MT; former spouse, Harry Miriani of Sterling Heights, MI; her grandchildren, Brandon, Andrew and Katherine Jones and the Helwigs, Brooke and Heather; Chris and Kimmy (mother Patty); Shaun and Amanda (mother Dawn); Zachary and Joshua; great-grandchildren, Gabriel and A' Mya Jones (mother Crystal) and Gauge Helwig. A Memorial Service and Mass will be held Saturday, June 22, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Nicholas Episcopal Church, 1111 E. Sample Rd., Pompano Beach, FL, with Father Mark Andrews presiding.
