MARIAN LELAND SPARKS, JR. Marion Leland Sparkie Sparks, Jr., retired pharmacist and former owner of Sparkys Pharmacy, passed away Saturday morning, December 17, 2011. He was born April 22, 1926, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Mr. Sparks served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of St. Catherines Catholic Church; the Knights of Columbus; the American Legion and a life member of the VFW. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen Opal Sparks; three sons, Marion L. Sparky Sparks, III and his wife Nilda R. Sparks of Clewiston, FL; Dr. Joseph D. Sparks and Mr. Jeff Schaller of Waldo, FL; Mark A. Sparks and his wife Lynn F. Sparks of Atlanta, GA; and one daughter, Mary Jane Wilkes and her husband Michael T. Wilkes of Sebring. Mr. Sparks also had nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. There will be a Requiem Mass at St. Catherines Catholic Church in Sebring at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2011, with Father J. Peter Sheehan officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Contributions may be made in his memory to The Society of St. Vincent DePaul or the St. Catherine Catholic Church School.
