Marilyn J. Degelman passed away January 19, 2017, at her home in Avon Park, Florida. Together with her fraternal twin sister, she was born in Presque Isle, Maine, to Lester and Florice (Packard) Dudley on December 15, 1933. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Creighton Degelman. She is survived by her daughter-Cathy Degelman Simmons (Wade) of Wewahitchka, FL; granddaughter-Heather Simmons Hall (Nicolas) of Panama City, FL; sisters-Carolyn Laing (Ronald) of Oxford, ME; Joan Elizabeth Thompson of Powder Springs, GA; as well as various nieces, nephews, and cousins. Marilyn attended Sebring Church of the Nazarene since 1999 and was extremely involved in many “behind the scenes” activities that made the church run smoothly for the Pastor and other members of the congregation. Moving in 1964 from Maine to Florida was the best decision she ever made. She said she had always wanted to live someplace a lot warmer and she got her wish for 53 years. She retired from the banking and insurance industries around 1985 when she and John moved to Avon Park from Homestead, FL and built their dream retirement home on the lake. Marilyn will be laid to rest at the graveside service in Bougainvillea Cemetery in Avon Park, FL on Monday, January 23, 2017 at 3:00 PM officiated by Pastor Tim Taylor joined by Pastor Wayne Brown and Pastor Joshua Dilday. Memorial contributions may be made to Sebring Church of the Nazarene, P.O. Box 372, Sebring, FL 33870 or Vitas Hospice, 106 Medical Center Avenue, Unit 106, Sebring, FL 33870.
