Maria Milagros Medina Jiménez

Maria Milagros Jiménez (nee: Medina) of Avon Park, Florida, peacefully passed onto her next journey this January 31, 2026 surrounded by her well-loved family. Born on January 1, 1953 in Lares, Puerto Rico, Milagros was a beloved partner, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She touched the lives of many with her profound sense of humor, warmth, creativity, curiosity, and gregarious, outgoing nature. Milagros was a generous woman and possessed an uncanny ability to connect with all with whom she met with a disarming wit and an empathetic heart.

Milagros immediately lit up any room she entered and made a positive impact on many people. She was a joyful presence with her colorful clothes, beautiful hair, creative fashion choices, and bubbly personality. She loved her family while filling her home with warmth and kindness. She made those around her laugh with her outrageous and exaggerated facial expressions, as well as all her humorous and inventive sayings. She was kind, generous and compassionate to all she encountered. Milagros believed in autonomy, dignity and a person’s right to choose the life they want.

Survived by her life companion of 44 years Jose Antonio Rivera; daughter Dr. Yesenia Jiménez-Captain and spouse James P. Captain, grandchildren Marissa Jiménez-Captain and Dimitri Jiménez-Captain of Chicago, IL; daughter Lissette Jiménez, grandchildren Nicolas Yahia and Sabrina Jiménez of Miami, FL; daughter Julissa Jiménez-Perez and spouse Ernesto Perez, grandchildren Francisco Perez, Angel Perez, and Daniel Perez, great grandchildren Lorenzo Perez, Elianna Perez, and Julian Perez of Kissimmee, FL; daughter Elizabeth Vasquez and spouse Eddie Vasquez, grandchildren Maria Lind, Deshon Lind, and Omri Lind, great grandchildren Liliana Lind and Mia Lind of Raleigh, NC. Surviving siblings include Blanca Medina, Alfredo Medina, Gladys Rodríguez, Magali Crespo, Damian Santiago, Marisol LeFebre, and Jorge Santiago; and many cousins, nieces, nephews across the United States and Puerto Rico.

We are honoring our beautiful, funny and very loving Mother as she was our heroine. A celebration of life is planned for May 2026. For now she is celebrating her journey with her mother, Lydia López, and brothers Pepe, Cano, Papo el Grande, and Sammy.

Our hearts are forever broken but are holding Mami within our souls each and every day.

Nacida el 1 de enero de 1953 en Lares, Puerto Rico, Milagros fue una adorada compañera, hija, hermana, madre, abuela, bisabuela y amiga. Tocó las vidas de muchos con su profundo sentido del humor, cariño, creatividad, curiosidad y su personalidad tan alegre y extrovertida. Milagros fue una mujer generosa que poseía una capacidad única para conectar con todos los que conocía, siempre con su ingenio encantador y un corazón empático.

Milagros iluminaba inmediatamente cualquier lugar al que llegaba y dejó una huella positiva en muchas personas. Era una presencia llena de júbilo con su ropa colorida, su hermoso cabello, sus creativos estilos de moda y su personalidad vibrante. Amaba profundamente a su familia, llenando su hogar de ternura y bondad. Hacía reír a todos a su alrededor con sus expresiones faciales tan cómicas y exageradas, así como con sus ocurrencias y dichos tan ingeniosos. Fue bondadosa, generosa y compasiva con todos. Milagros creía firmemente en la autonomía, la dignidad y el derecho de cada persona a elegir la vida que desea.

Le sobreviven su compañero de vida por 44 años, José Antonio Rivera; su hija, la Dra. Yesenia Jiménez-Captain y su esposo James P. Captain, sus nietos Marissa Jiménez-Captain y Dimitri Jiménez-Captain de Chicago, IL; su hija Lissette Jiménez, sus nietos Nicolas Yahia y Sabrina Jiménez de Miami, FL; su hija Julissa Jiménez-Pérez y su esposo Ernesto Pérez, sus nietos Francisco Pérez, Angel Pérez y Daniel Pérez, sus biznietos Lorenzo Pérez, Elianna Pérez y Julian Pérez de Kissimmee, FL; y su hija Elizabeth Vásquez y su esposo Eddie Vásquez, sus nietos Maria Lind, Deshon Lind y Omri Lind, y sus bisnietas Liliana Lind y Mia Lind de Raleigh, NC. También le sobreviven sus hermanos Blanca Medina, Alfredo Medina, Gladys Rodríguez, Magali Crespo, Damian Santiago, Marisol LeFebre y Jorge Santiago; además de muchos primos, sobrinas y sobrinos a través de los Estados Unidos y Puerto Rico.

Honramos a nuestra hermosa, divertida y amorosa madre, quien fue nuestra heroína. Se planifica una celebración de vida para mayo de 2026. Por ahora, ella se encuentra celebrando su jornada junto a su madre, Lydia López, y sus hermanos Pepe, Cano, Papo el Grande y Sammy.

Nuestros corazones están rotos para siempre, pero llevamos a Mami guardada en nuestra alma cada uno de nuestros días.
