Margene Vance Sheffer passed away on July 17th, at her home in Frostproof, Florida.  She was 68.  Genie was born on May 21st, 1953 in Philadelphia, PA.  She is survived by her brother, Robert Sheffer, Jr., and his wife, Lois Sheffer of Frostproof, FL; as well as a son, Johnathon Curtiss and his fiance, Kayla Jamtgaard of Washington State.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Margaret Sheffer, and her husband, Theron Soelter.

She retired in 2020 after 19 years of service working at Baycare Hospital in Winter Haven, FL.  Genie was a lover of animals of all kinds - she devoted her life to rescuing cats and had many pets that she cared deeply for over her lifetime.  She loved wildlife of any kind and donated frequently to support animals.

A memorial service will be held at the Sunray Community Center, 15 George St, Frostproof, FL, 33843 on Tuesday, August 17th at 11am.  In lieu of flowers the family is asking that you please donate to The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 50 Broadway, Floor 19, New York, NY, 10004.
