Mr. Margaro Rodriguez

Mr. Margaro Rodriguez, aka Gary Rodriguez, age 86, of Frostproof, Florida, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. He was born on June 9, 1938, in Cayey, Puerto Rico, to his loving parents Mr. Luis M. Rodriguez and Jesusa Diaz Rosado.

He is survived by his sons and daughters; Osvaldo, Maritza, Yolanda, Mildred, Maribel and Richie.

Mr. Rodriguez married Angela and together ventured into entrepreneurship and real estate in Chicago and Puerto Rico. He started businesses in Chicago such as groceries stores and auto body shops. He moved to Puerto Rico and brought a 10 wheels dump truck to work in quarries and soon after started a supermarket, a store front glazing company, a liquor store, a real estate brokerage and created apartment units.

Gary was a devout catholic and continuously helping friends and family and people in need. He would fight or speak for the folks that could not fight for themselves. Wherever he went Gary would tell his childhood adventures and life experiences engaging the people that surrounded him.

Gary was always on the go and would keep himself busy coming up with projects. As he ventured through life, Gary became a professional wrestler, golden gloves boxer, a professional scuba diver and business owner. One of the things that it was cleared, is that he was an American patriot. He loved his American flag and eagle.

Gary’s legacy was to provide for his family everything they needed to succeed in life. Given that he grew up extremely poor and left home from the age of 12 from Barranquitas, Puerto Rico to San Juan by means of walking and sleeping under vehicles. Eventually immigrated to Chicago and started building his legacy. He authored a book of his biography. Margaro Rodriguez is truly beloved by his family and friends. We, the children, the grandchildren, the great grandchildren, the brothers and sisters will remember Him forever. The strength and Resilience of an Eagle that is represented in Gary, will always be the spirit that will live in our hearts. WE LOVE YOU PAPI

Services for Mr. Rodriguez will be held at noon on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home of Avon Park, FL. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
