MARGARET FLOYE CARPENTER ROBERTS Margaret Marge Floye Carpenter Roberts, age 97, went home to be with her Lord, Thursday, April 28, 2011 at The Oaks of Avon in Avon Park, FL. She was born at home on December 24, 1913 in Milllett in Ingham County, Michigan to Claire C. and Julia A. Carpenter. She was a member of Leisure Lakes Baptist Church, Lake Placid, FL; former member of the East Naples United Methodist Church and the Isle of Capri Christian Church in Florida and the Potters Park United Methodist Church in Lansing, MI; She was a graduate of Eastern High School, Lansing, MI, class of 1931; She attended Michigan Normal College and Ferris Institute, studying education and library science. She was employed with the US Post Office in Detroit, the Michigan Department of Social Welfare in Lansing, and as Librarian of the DeWitt Public Library in DeWitt, MI; Served as a volunteer with the Naples and Marco Island Homemakers Association. Her interests included square and line dancing as well as working with crafts and ceramics. She lived in Lansing and DeWitt Michigan, moved to Naples, FL in 1976 and to Sebring, FL in 2006. She is survived by her son, Rev. Don Roberts & Bonnie, Sebring, FL; Grandchildren, Wayne Roberts & Nike, Buffalo Grove, IL; Alethea Parker & Stacy, Lanexa, VA; Rebekah Esch & Tom, Germantown, MD; great grandchildren, Jonathan & Alexandra Roberts , Illinois; Jeffrey Sterlachini, serving in the US Navy in Hawaii; Stacie Marie & Nick Parker, Virginia; Abigail Esch, Maryland; sister, Joyce Carpenter Cooley, Virginia Beach, VA; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lee Roberts, 1999 and infant son, Wayne, 1939; brothers, Leroy Carpenter, 1998 Donald Carpenter, 1968; Clare Carpenter, 1975; and sister, Nancie Carpenter Lubbers, 2008. Memorial services will be held at the Leisure Lakes Baptist Church in Lake Placid on Friday, May 6, 2011 at 11:00 AM, with a luncheon to follow.
