Luis Elpidio Cortes

Luis Elpidio Cortes, 70, passed away on March 11, 2025. He was born on November 12, 1954, in Manhattan, NY, to the late Elpidio and Aida Cortes.

A dedicated and hardworking man, Luis built a career as a steamfitter, proudly working in construction and as a member of Union 638, Steamfitter Association Enterprise. He took great pride in his craft and found fulfillment in his trade. In 2022, he moved to Sebring, FL, from Jacksonville, FL, embracing a new chapter of his life.

Luis is survived by his loving companion of 46 years, Marta Ramos; his children, Pablo Torres (Miranda) of Sebring, FL, and Luis Saldana of California; his sister, Nydia Cruz of Long Island, NY; six cherished grandchildren, Israel Torres, Jadelynn Torres, Kassandra Torres, Elijaah Torres, Isaiah Torres, Hunter Torres; and one great-grandchild, Dexter Torres.

Beyond his work, Luis was a passionate sports enthusiast who enjoyed coaching football, playing shuffleboard, and practicing karate. He was known for his generous spirit, unwavering dedication to his family, and his love for spoiling his grandchildren. A devoted father, wonderful companion, compassionate friend, and doting grandfather, Luis left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

His memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones, and his legacy of kindness, hard work, and love for family will never be forgotten.
