Lucinda (Cindy) Ann Bowles, 73, past away June 26, 2017, on her birthday at home with her family by her side. She gave herself the most precious birthday gift of all – a place in heaven with her mother.
Cindy was born July 26, 1944, in Traverse City, MI. Upon graduating high school she attended Indiana Business College and then went to work for Stokely-Van Camp until she joined the Air Force. She served honorably for four years.
At the Air Force Technical School she meet her husband Albert Bowles. A three week whirlwind courtship resulted in a 50 year marriage and two children. As they pursed his Air Force career they lived all over the world: Greece, Taiwan, Germany, England and six different stateside locations before retiring in Sebring, FL to be with family.
Cindy joined Avon Park’s First United Methodist Church in 1996 where she immediately got involved in numerous activities; including Vacation Bible School. She volunteered with Sebring’s Friends of the Library, where she pursued her love of reading. Additional hobbies included gardening, top notch quilting (which she donated to local charities, friends for their newborns and family), traveling, spending time with her grandkids/family, and her most recently hobby, fishing.
Cindy was a 20 year cancer survivor who would not accept the Dr’s “five year quality of life” diagnosis. Her strength and beliefs allowed her to live EACH and EVERY day to the fullest. Cindy is survived by her devoted husband, Al Bowles; two children, Pamela Coltrain and Jason Bowles; four grandchildren: Becky, Brooke, and Brittany Coltrain and Ricky Warner; siblings: Gary Basch, Don Basch, and sister, Rebecca Houtman.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Amanda Erickson, and her younger brother Joe Fredrick.
Memorial services will be officiated by Reverend Dan Carr on July 1, 2017, at 11:00 am, at First United Methodist of Avon Park, 200 S. Lake Ave, Avon Park, FL
33825.
Please, in lieu of flowers, send donations to the First United Methodist of Avon Park.
