Lowell Dean Pfeiffer

May 15, 1930 — November 10, 2024

Sebring

Lowell “Bud” Dean Pfeiffer passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024, in Sebring, Florida, at the age of 94. Born on May 15, 1930, in Rural Findlay, Illinois, to the late Arthur and Ethel Pfeiffer, Lowell grew up with a deep appreciation for family, hard work, and the natural world around him. He moved to Florida in 2000, bringing with him the same warmth and resilience that defined his life in Illinois.

A proud veteran, Bud served his country in the United States Air Force, where he forged enduring friendships and a lifelong commitment to service. His career took him into the world of sales with the Kent Corporation, where he made a lasting impression through his dedication and remarkable ability to connect with others. Known for his charisma and humor, Bud had a gift for storytelling and could often be found sharing a laugh or a well-timed joke among friends and family.

Bud was a man of many passions. An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in hunting, fishing, and golfing, hobbies that brought him peace and companionship. He was also a skilled gardener and took great pride in learning what to grow in Florida’s distinct climate, tackling each season with curiosity and determination. Bud’s love for animals stayed with him his entire life, dating back to his school days when he rode his pony, Doris, to school each day. As a young man, he once sold his beloved coon dog to fund a night at the prom, a story that epitomizes his kindness and dedication to others.

Deeply involved in his faith, Bud was an active member of New Life Lutheran Church, where he formed strong bonds and lived out his values of compassion and service. A devoted family man, he cherished his role as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, taking immense pride in his family’s accomplishments and showering them with love and guidance. Bud leaves behind a legacy of strength, humor, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved.

He is survived by his loving companion, Elizabeth Mitchell; his children, Larry Pfeiffer (Jan) of Illinois, Patricia Chrisman (Bill) of Iowa, Stepchildren, Lori Dwyer (Bill) of Florida, David Mitchell (Susan), Janice Comtois (Doug), Dale Klemarczyk (Paul), Barbara (Roger) Zimmerman of Illinois, Robin (Vickie) Shawgo of Florida; his sisters, Ardith Wakefield and Vickie Weyand; as well as four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Pfeiffer, his sisters, Carrol Wright and Janell Allen, step daughter Cathie Armstrong. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held in his honor on November 13, 2024 at 12:00 PM at New Life Lutheran Church. Visitation will start at 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial committal will be at Irish Grove Cemetery in Greenview, Illinois on November 18, 2024 at 11;30AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to New Life Lutheran Church or a charity of choice in Bud’s memory, celebrating his life of generosity, laughter, and love.
