Louis (Lou) Ronald Molnar, 89, of Sebring Florida, (Previously resided in Arcadia, FL, Madison and Windsor, WI) passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025 at Advent Hospital in Sebring.  Lou was born in Perth Amboy, NJ to Julia Ann Uveges and Louis Molnar on April 6, 1936. After he graduated from Perth Amboy high school, Class of 1954. He then enlisted in the U.S. Airforce where he served for four years before being honorably discharged in 1958.

Lou is survived by his wife Sherri, his daughter Marjorie Ripp of Sarasota, Fl and his daughter- n- law Kim of Cross Plains, WI, his sons; Dale (Julie), of Deforest, WI, Ronald of Mount Pleasant, WI, William of Arcadia, FL and Andrew (Krisann) of Wilmington, NC.  He’s further survived by his five grandchildren: Joshua (Sherree), Taran (Katy), Elizabeth, Ryan (Meagan), and Racheal. His four great grandchildren: Kasidy, Brody, Brooklyn, Kashtyn, his niece Susan, and nephews Vito and Samuel.  He’s also survived by the entire Rogers and Yapp families as well as numerous close friends in Wisconsin and Florida.

Lou was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joan, his son Matthew (Kim), his great grandson Hayden and his sister Arlene (Sandy).

Lou had a passion for flying and he became a licensed private pilot in 1958 and a Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument in 1961.  Four Lakes Aviation and the Jet Room were his second home for many years where he taught flight training and Aeronautics Ground School helping more than 300 students achieve their dreams of becoming pilots.

After Lous military service he worked for the RCA Corporation in the Missile and Surface Radar Division servicing military radar antennas throughout the country and then traveled internationally working as a Machine Balancer Technician for the Gisholt Machine Corporation.

Lou started his career in law enforcement in 1971 when he joined the Dane County Sheriff’s Department and also worked part-time for the Sun Prairie Police Department.  While at the Sheriff’s Department he served as a Deputy Sheriff, Detective and a Crime Scene Investigator.

In 1996 Lou and his wife Sherri moved to Arcadia Florida where they lived for 27 years before relocating to Sebring in 2023.

Lou was a warm, loving and generous man that would always help out anyone in need and was never afraid to defend the underdog while always extending empathy and striving for fairness and justice in every situation he encountered.

Lou was a volunteer firefighter with both the Blooming Grove and Windsor, WI Fire Departments. He continued his volunteerism with the Civil Air Patrol the Coast Guard Auxiliary and served as the HOA President at Oakview Estates for over 10 years.

Throughout his life Lou enjoyed hobbies of watching WW II movies, traveling, flying, fishing, swimming, scuba diving, boating, water skiing, camping, eating oysters on the half shell and drinking his Amber Bach beer at the Blue Lagoon. He enjoyed boating on the Madison lakes with his family and come rain or shine you could always find Lou and his family anchored in, “The Cove,” on Lake Mendota.

Lou was a member of the Dane County Retired Sheriffs Association, Wisconsin Professional Police Association, Wisconsin Law Enforcement Association, Wisconsin Law Enforcement Memorial, National Association of Law Enforcement Memorial, Concerns of Police Survivors, Florida Sheriffs Association,  American Academy of Forensic Sciences, International Crime Scene Investigators Association, American Legion, Am Vets, Disable Veterans of America, Air Craft Owners and Pilot Association, Quiet Birdman, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Civil Air Patrol,  Professional Pilots Association, Wisconsin Pilots Association, Flight Safety Foundation and the Sebring Hills Association.

He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers.

A memorial service with full Law Enforcement and Military Honors will be held in Madison WI at late date. Further details will be shared when all arrangements are finalized.
