LOIS L. VEENKER Lois L. Veenker, 92, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2009, in Sebring. She was born September 23, 1917, to Albert and Bessie Shaw Martin in Bronson, Michigan, and had been a resident of Sebring SIM Village since 1982, coming from Forest City, Iowa. She was a graduate of Bronson High School and after graduation in 1940 from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, she served in Nigeria, West Africa as a missionary with SIM for 28 years. She was married to the late Raymond Veenker in Miango, Nigeria on July 17, 1942 and following their return to the U.S., she worked with her husband in the Good Samaritan Nursing Homes as a Nurses Aide and Activities Director. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sebring. Mrs. Veenker is survived by her daughters, Ramona Rae Wiley; Miriam Mae Samuels; Lila Fae (Malika) Starr and Karen Kae Hayes; one niece; three nephews; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family received friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at SIM Fellowship Hall in Sebring. Funeral services are being held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2009, in the SIM Chapel, Mr. Dan L. Wiley officiating, with interment at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park, immediately following. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to SIM, 4114 Nigeria Rd., Sebring, Fl 33875.
